Running for Rice Pudding
A childhood memoir by Rosemarie Mattar

A hairdresser by trade, she would often recount stories from her childhood to clients and friends. A collection of these memories about her multicultural experience – Liverpudlian, with a twist – seemed like the natural progression.

Hilarious and heartfelt, Rosemarie Mattar's stories of her Liverpool childhood in the 70's paint a raucous picture of familial love and adventures with six brothers and sisters, an Irish mother and Jamaican father.

Mattar's surprising vignettes of their every day life; from a ladybird invasion to an unexpected house guest, a secret haircut to a close call with lions, resonate in the unique voice of a natural storyteller.

Running for Rice Pudding pulls the reader into Mattar's unconventional young world and shares all the joy and lessons learned from a simpler time.

Your voice is therapeutic. I listened to your stories while driving and I literally felt like you were sitting next to me. A great storyteller.  M. Koshir Sr. Director A+E Networks

Running for Rice Pudding is an audio book, narrated by Roe, as a tribute to her parents who provided great love and support, and to her wife, CC, without whose encouragement it would never have been written.

After 22 years in Los Angeles, she now resides in Spain, where she teaches English and hosts wellness retreats.
